KDF open success for DSK

So this year we decided yo be a little more selective and restrained about our competition selection, but one comp we were assured not to miss was the incredibly well run KDF open in Barking, Essex  which is happily also just down the road from us. With a team of 12 students, resting a few of the Elite squad, it was time for our up and coming talent to show us their metal.....and that they did. With medals galore. A huge tally of 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze across both kata and kumite disciplines. The Gorelcenka brothers with 7 between them, including 5 of the golds and double gold for the Treguer family, it was soon becoming a family affair!  The rest of the team were magnificent with a very unlucky Ethan Mundt having to withdraw winning the semi final due to injury (thankfully he is ok) and Eimantas Puzneckis putting in an amazing kumite performance to take silver in a close final of the heavy weight open category 16-17years against England international Joe Hird. All in all a great day and with a date already in the diary for later in the year we hope more students will join monthly squad training and step up to the tatami.  Great job all.
