Docklands Shoujin Karate Club, (DSK) is a not for profit karate club that has
been based in Beckton, East London , U.K. since 2012.
Due to the high level of instruction and support DSK has grown from strength to strength and
is lucky to be based in our full time dojo at the East London gymnastics centre,
1 Triumph road, Beckton, London E6 5LW. We are pleased however to
still be working in partnership with our former hosts, UEL sportsdock as their incumbent karate club,
offering free training to UEL students and staff.
DSK was established in 2012 as an affiliate club of Shoujin Karate Kai based in
Sensei Tony Solley (5th Dan) and Club Chair Lyn Juniper-Solley originated from
Newham Shoujin Karate and trained in the Ishinryu Style of Karate, under the
instruction of Helen Pree ( 7th Dan) .
Sensei Tony Solley was encouraged to start his own class, and just at that time the
UEL Sportsdock was under construction in preparation for the 2012 Olympics
and we were lucky enough to base our club there.
Shoujin Karate Kai, our association is also affiliated to the English Karate Federation (EKF) , and in turn the World Karate Federation (WKF) which makes it one of the few clubs that now has a route to national representation and possible Olympic representation.
DSK's aim is to provide high quality traditional karate to everybody, and to achieve this, it was decided to make the club, a not for profit organisation. Supported by volunteers who teach and support our aim through their pure passion for karate and the enthusiasm to see our students progress. We give up our free time to help our students fulfil their potential.
All of our main instructors are Dan Grade ( Black Belt) and are DBS checked and first aid trained as our the rest of our volunteer staff. Our instructors are also English Karate Federation qualified coaches. in 2012 we began to form a competition squad to compete on the national circuit, and were successful in achieving many medal places in our first year, with several National level champions from DSK.
To date DSK members alone have achieved over 30 national level medal places, with more from affiliate Shoujin clubs coached by DSKs Sensei Tony Solley
We try to keep our costs as low as possible by offering flexible payment options to suit all preferences, and suitable concessions where possible.
We are keen to promote an all inclusive, family feel environment and are open to all from Age 4 years to 104! regardless of race, religion, social status or background. We hope that you will pop along and see for yourself.
